The Century Literary Club was founded on 22 November 1890 at Indiana University in Century Hall in the Old College Building. The object of the “Century,” as it was nicknamed, was to promote literary and social culture for non-fraternity, male students of the university. Holding the motto “Each for the Society, and the Society for all,” the Century met every Saturday evening in Century Hall to host literary readings, musical exercises, and lively debates of contemporary social and academic issues...
